Used in everyday speech and writing for physically standing up or figuratively rising/recovering; more literal than 起きる.
椅子から立ち上がってください。
Isu kara tachiagatte kudasai.
Please stand up from the chair.
彼は倒れたが、すぐに立ち上がった。
Kare wa taoreta ga, sugu ni tachiagatta.
He fell but soon got back up.
⚖️ Often confused with 起きる (okiru), which means to wake up or get out of bed, not simply to stand up from a seated position.
