What Nihoner is
Nihoner is a comprehensive Japanese-learning platform covering reading, writing, listening and speaking, supported by structured courses, grammar, vocabulary and kanji study, exercises, quizzes, flashcards, games, adaptive review, AI-assisted tools, a public-domain reading library and reference resources including a Japanese dictionary.
- Reading — Passages generated from the kanji you personally know, a graded library of public-domain books with tap-for-meaning on every word, and a daily lesson.
- Writing — Handwriting scored against real stroke-order data in the browser, plus a daily composition task marked the moment you submit.
- Listening — Dictation, word-catching, a speed ladder and minimal-pair ear training over a graded corpus of spoken sentences, chosen against the words you already know.
- Speaking & pronunciation — Pronunciation practice and spoken phrase work, including keigo register training and audio-first recognition drills.
64 courses covering JLPT N5–N1 with 1,567 lessons, all open to free accounts. 16 learning games, 0 of them Premium-only. A dictionary of 669,996 entries is one reference tool inside the platform, not what the platform is. Everything Nihoner includes · verified platform facts.
Our Mission at Nihoner
Nihoner’s mission is to make Japanese study and cultural exploration more approachable. We publish learning tools, reference pages, games, and guides for independent learners. Nihoner is an independent platform: it is not a school, accrediting body, embassy, or government service.
HOW WE WORK

Edgar Yepremyan
Founder / Developer
Edgar Yepremyan founded and develops Nihoner. Product decisions, corrections, and published claims remain Nihoner’s responsibility. The platform is continuously improved and does not present its founder as a licensed teacher or government representative.
Learning Design
PRODUCT PRINCIPLE
Study activities are designed for clear, repeatable practice. They support independent learning but do not replace instruction from a qualified teacher, an accredited course, or official examination guidance.
Cultural Context
EDITORIAL PRINCIPLE
Culture pages are introductory starting points, not a single authoritative account of Japan. We aim to distinguish sourced facts from interpretation and welcome corrections when context is incomplete or outdated.
Community & Support
PLATFORM PRINCIPLE
Community spaces are intended for respectful learning and exchange. Moderation, support, privacy, and safety concerns can be raised through Nihoner’s published contact and policy channels.
TRANSPARENCY
Member feedback is published only after a signed-in submission and moderation. Nihoner does not use sample testimonials as evidence of learner outcomes.
Review policy
Corrections are welcome when a page is unclear, outdated, or unsupported. Material claims should be traceable to platform data or a named source.
