Can’t type a kanji you’ve seen on a sign, a menu or in a book? Draw it with your finger or mouse — stroke order doesn’t matter — and tap the match to see its readings, meaning and words that use it.

Tips for better matches
- Draw the character large, filling most of the square.
- Count the strokes: a line drawn in one movement is one stroke even if it bends (like the hook in 子).
- If the right one doesn’t appear, undo the last stroke and redraw it more simply.
Recognition runs entirely in your browser (KanjiCanvas, MIT licence) — nothing you draw is uploaded. It knows about 2,200 characters, covering all the jōyō kanji.
