📖 How to use it

This pattern expresses that an event or action was the starting point or opportunity that led to something else, often a change or new development.

Attaches to Attach がきっかけで to a noun, or to a clause ending in the plain past tense (た-form) or a nominalized verb phrase (e.g., ことを, のが).

Use がきっかけで to indicate that something served as the trigger or opportunity for a subsequent result. It often implies a change in circumstances or a new beginning. To use it with a verb, you can nominalize the verb with の (e.g., 留学したのがきっかけで) or use a noun like こと (e.g., 出会ったことがきっかけで). When the noun already implies an event or experience, attach がきっかけで directly.
